Oracy Group is the official India partner of the English-Speaking Union — one of the world’s most respected public speaking and debating organisations, with over a century of history. Through this partnership, students in Hisar can compete for a place at the international finals in London.

ENGLISH-SPEAKING UNION

Founded over 100 years ago, the English-Speaking Union (ESU) is an international educational charity dedicated to developing confident, articulate communicators across the world. Through debating programmes, public speaking competitions, and international exchange, ESU has shaped the voices of generations of leaders, diplomats, and changemakers.

With branches in more than 50 countries, ESU runs the International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC) — one of the most prestigious youth competitions in the world, reaching over one million young people every year. Oracy Group runs the official ESU India programme, enabling students in India to compete in the International Public Speaking Competition.

India International Public Speaking Competition

The ESU-Oracy India Public Speaking Competition gives school-age students a structured pathway from a local classroom all the way to an international stage in London. Participants develop their arguments, presence, and delivery — then put it to the test in front of real audiences at each stage.

This is not just a competition. It is a structured journey that builds exactly the skills Oracy teaches: clarity, confidence, persuasion, and connection.

1. School Round

Students compete within their own school group. Top performers advance to represent their school.

2. Regional Heat

Representatives from multiple schools compete at a regional event in Haryana.

Jan – Feb 2027

3. National Final

The strongest speakers from all regions compete for the title of India’s best young speaker.

How to Get Involved

Entry to the competition is through Oracy Group’s school programme — there is no separate registration.

Sign up

Enrol in Oracy Group’s school programme (ages 11–18 or university course). The competition is open to all students in the programme — no audition required to begin.

Train and Prepare

Weekly sessions develop your speaking, argumentation, and confidence. Your teacher will guide you through the competition format as part of the curriculum.

Compete at Each Stage

Students who are ready will be selected to represent their school at the Regional Heat. Win the National Final to claim your place at the London International Finals.
